My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Characters

The Character of Ged was good but I felt he didn’t have enough finesse to carry enough of the story. Loyon however, seemed to be the most interwoven into the plot and the intricacies of its development. I really did enjoy llana though she was a great diplomatic character that held my interest well, the Prince did muster some sympathy from me for his restrictions of duty that was required of him. All in all I had a positive experience as far as the Characters were concerned.

Atmosphere

This book was steeped in deep and meaningful atmosphere. The world building was on a par with some of my most enjoyable reads of the year, there was at no point any doubt about where you were or how it related to the moment of the story at any point which was very clever and impressed me greatly.

Writing

Although the writing at times felt rather dense, I think it’s complexity helped keep pace with the story. I read this book quite slowly compared to my usual reading speed. I think that was due to the fact that I didn’t want to miss anything that could be important at a later date. The writing of this epic fantasy didn’t make it easy at times, but it in no way hindered the progress of the plot.

Plot

I want this review to remain spoiler free so will not divulge anything key to do with the plot. I will say however that the pace of the story was steady and I didn’t find that I could not understand anything within its finer plot points.

Intrigue

Intrigue for me is always the most important aspect of any epic fantasy that I decide to pick up. If I am not sucked in and invested within the first few chapters/pages I have no qualms in saying I cannot finish the book. I’m happy to say this was not the case here. There was a steady beat to the progression of this story. Holding my interest and investment with ease until the last page.

Logic

Fantasy stories are always difficult to class as logical, what I will say though is that this book never stepped too far into the unbelievable nor did it step to far out of fantasy into reality the balance was held solidly throughout.

Enjoyment

Overall my rating for The Cradle is a substantial 4/5 stars I am very glad I had the opportunity to read this book as I had not come across it myself I must credit the author by saying thank you for approaching me to review it and I look forward to working together again soon.
